Description In 2001 the Prize was re-structured to establish an ongoing journal series exploring issues of contemporary concern to the profession of architecture. Published TAKE journals are: TAKE 1, Urban Solutions: Propositions for the future Australian city, 2002, Editor: Robert McGauran TAKE 2, Housing Design in Indigenous Australia, 2003, Editor: Paul Memmott TAKE 3, The Double Dimension: Heritage and Innovation, 2004, Editor: Jennifer Hill TAKE 4, Coalitions and collaborations: creating architectural knowledge in contemporary practice, 2005, Editors: Susan Savage, Paula Whitman and Louise Walls. TAKE 5, Looking Ahead: Defining the terms of a sustainable profession, is currently under way. The editorial team, Paolo Tombesi, Blair Gardner & Tony Mussen. TAKE 5 will be launched by symposium in September this year.
The Prize Steering Committee now seeks applications from practitioners/academics interested in taking on the role of Editor for the 2006 Prize. The Editor will draw together a group of co-contributors, in consultation with the RAIA Sisalation Prize Steering Committee, to produce an edited collection of works focused on a theme nominated by the Editor as part of the initial application. The Editor will manage the co-contributors and be responsible for the content of their articles.
The edited collection will be published as a single volume of the ongoing series. Topics should be of relevance to both practitioners and academics. The co-contributors will be contracted by the Editor; selection of them will be with the agreement of the RAIA Sisalation Prize Steering Committee.
The Editor and co-contributors of TAKE 6 will be given the opportunity to have their journal submissions refereed in accordance with the criteria established by the Department of Education Science and Training (DEST). This process will be optional and it is anticipated that TAKE 6 will contain both refereed and unrefereed articles clearly identified in the final publication.
